Light + Building 2026, set to take place between 8th<\/sup> and 13th<\/sup> March 2026 at Frankfurt am Main, will showcase a dedicated area \u201cThe Living Light\u201d featuring how design and technology indicate how thoughtfully designed light becomes a living force that shapes well-being, learning, work and human connection.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Light influences human well-being, facilitates communication, improves performance, and encourages learning. It gives direction, sets the mood and tone. Light + Building will debut the unique space \u201cThe Living Light \u2013 where Design and Technology Shape the Future\u201d<\/em> in Frankfurt am Main from March 8 to 13, 2026. This exclusive space, designed to bring an all-encompassing, immersive experience, includes an evocative walk-through of four aspects of life, showing how cutting-edge lighting technology can improve daily life in different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Living Light\u201d demonstrates how a holistic approach to lighting may be converted into spatial experience at the world\u2019s premier trade show for lighting and building services technologies. Under the curatorial leadership of Carla Wilkins, Senior Partner & Global Creative Director, Lichtvision Design Berlin, the special area, created by Lichtvision Design on behalf of Light + Building, will be realised in Hall 3.1.      <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international lighting design company is well-known for its all-encompassing concepts that incorporate people, places, and technology. It has operations in Berlin, London, and several Asian locations, including Hong Kong and Shanghai. Each studio contributed its own interpretation of the theme of life within a collaborative framework for the distinctive presentation. The finished artwork offers a rich and nuanced perspective on light as a dynamic force influencing everyday life by fusing different cultural ideas, working styles, and design methodologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core of this unique presentation is \u201cGreen Spine\u201d a continuous spatial element. All four of the themed areas are connected by this light-staged corridor, which also directs guests through the project. The path is accompanied by a moss-designed wall that draws inspiration from natural growth forms. Light guides orientation, draws the eye and shifts in intensity and atmosphere from one station to the next. Nature emerges as a symbol of continuity, linking different areas of life, technologies and people. Carla Wilkins states \u201cWith The Living Light<\/em>, we want to show that light is far more than illumination, Light is a living design factor that appeals to our emotions, motivates us and connects us with one another. When we use technology in the right way and embed it in a holistic overall concept, light can enhance every moment of our everyday lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A journey through four areas of life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Living Light invites visitors on a walk-through experience that explores four central areas of life, revealing light as a shaping and connecting force throughout everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHome\u201d \u2013 Atmosphere, dynamism and wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey starts in the Home space, the place most closely connected to everyday life. Here, light acts like a quiet companion, changing with the time of day, our moods and our needs. Different lighting scenes show the flow of a day\u2014from soft, warm light in the morning and evening to more intense, more energising moments, and finally to night-time lighting that allows darkness to play a role. With an easy-to-use lighting interface, visitors can adjust the atmosphere themselves and experience how light can create comfort, support rest and make a space feel safe and welcoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEducation\u201d \u2013 Light as a driver of motivation and health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emphasis in the \u201cEducation\u201d section is on how light can improve educational settings. Children, adolescents, and adults all bring unique foundation, perspectives, and modes of attention to the complicated process of learning. From playful and active learning to digital techniques and disruptive learning formats, for instance in the context of ADHD or certain health-related demands, four specially created spatial situations illustrate various learning kinds. Targeted lighting techniques, from direct and indirect lighting to serene, diffuse lighting scenes and activating accents, are used in each of these zones. Thus, the installation shows how light may boost motivation, lessen sensory overload, and facilitate personal learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWork\u201d \u2013 Performance and regeneration in balance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Work space presents everyday office life as a story told through light. In a sharply geometric, focused environment, the rhythm of a working day\u2014morning concentration, midday mental drifting, afternoon pressure, and evening winding down is conveyed solely through changes in light and intensity. At the centre, a deliberately messy workstation represents the individual within a rigid system. In work space Light is not decorative; it tells a story, marking time, creating tension, and revealing emotional states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCommunication\u201d \u2013 The playful interplay of sensor technology and light<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCommunication\u201d is the amusing interaction between light and sensor technology.
The interaction of light, sensor technology, and interaction is the main focus of the \u201cCommunication\u201d section. Light is dynamic, adapts to movement, and reveals connectedness. Visitors get a firsthand look at how lighting moods develop naturally, playfully, and interactively, overlap, and keep changing in conversation with the area. This demonstrates how networked lighting systems can encourage dialogue and create lively, dynamic environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Living Light is a feature of Light + Building 2026\u2019s top-notch event program, providing lighting designers, architects, designers, and the lighting-focused professional audience with in-depth knowledge and a variety of inspiration. The main gathering spot is the Design Plaza in Hall 3.1, which puts design, architecture, and light front and centre while acting as a stage for conversations, seminars, and exchanges. This location hosts daily panel discussions, presentations, and program contributions from different partners. Additionally, guided excursions begin at the Design Plaza, visit a few chosen exhibitors, and offer in-depth explanations of recent advancements and trends in the lighting sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
